In Vein

IN VEIN

Two couples rent a cabin and discover, to their horror, that their host has been draining their blood to sustain another.

Director’s Statement:

IN VEIN follows a group of friends on a weekend getaway, but as they're forced to explore their rental property out of necessity, they discover a hidden room that reveals the true nature of their holiday. My goal was to build suspense and tension through the characters' gradual realization that they are in grave danger.

My vision as the director was to create a modern twist on traditional horror by exploring how supernatural monsters could coexist with our reality. I asked the question "What would a modern-day horror-style vampire be up to?" In IN VEIN, I wanted to challenge the audience's suspension of disbelief by presenting a scenario where vampires could exist in a more plausible way. Instead of introducing traditional vampires, I focused on the simple idea of someone stealing blood for medical purposes. This approach lowered the barrier of belief and made it easier for the audience to immerse themselves in the story.

IN VEIN is the beginning of a larger story that I see unfolding in parts or as a whole. The questions "how?" and "why?" will be tapped into more detail as the plot unravels further and the stakes are raised even higher.
